TEST TRACK: COLOUR CASTLE

Coming straight ‘outta’ the creative hub, Melbourne, is Christian Pillot, better known as Colour Castle. Pillot got Colour Castle up and running back in 2014, and in 2016 the king of the keyboards Casper Tromp joined the production party. Pillot has had his fair share of Bali over the past few years, with him playing at killer events and clubs like Ulu Cliffhouse and Mrs Sippy.

Christian got his foot through the door back in 2016, when he released his single ‘Walk Right In’. The track blew up; with Danny Howard playing it on BBC Radio 1, to being played out by big profile DJs like, Carl Cox, Hannah Wants and Billy Kenny and being the #1 Aria Club Track of 2016. The single put Colour Castle on the map internationally and got him a massive amount of exposure.

Raking in the success of 2016, Colour Castle charged forward with three monster collaborations in 2017. Releasing ‘I Know A Place’ with international house royalty Miguel Campbell, ‘Stay Hungry’ with Doorly and ‘Love Addict’ with Yolanda Quartey, who is best known for her vocals on ‘Duke Dumont – Won’t Look Back’. All three tracks rode the Aria Club Charts to #1 and saw remixes from the likes of Amine Edge & Dance, Dr.Packer, MAM and more. At this point, “third years the charm” is probably the best (made-up) saying for Colour Castle’s consistent success. Because when 2018 hit, it saw a huge collaboration with the house legend, Roland Clark. The collab track ‘Can’t Buy This’ hit the top spot on the Aria Club Charts and sat there comfortably for 5 weeks.

In the same year, fresh off his successful collab with Roland Clark, Colour Castle released their single ‘Come With Me’. A dance floor arsenal, guaranteed to create waves in clubs across the globe. The track was another solidified banger, reaching the top spot in record time and spending a total of 26 weeks at #1 on the Aria Club Charts – a record timing for any artist in the past two years. In 2018 as well, Christian kicked off his record label ‘Hot Sunday Records’. Which has some exciting releases coming up from Christian Pillot, Mark Maxwell, Moogy Bee, Stephen Nicollolas, Sondrio, Brown Sneakers, Jolyon Petch, Mind Electric and a Scott Diaz Remix.

Colour Castle has cemented himself in the industry, in a very short span of time. Backed up with recognition, support and respect from heavyweights like Claptone, Gorgon City & DJ SKT and with numerous achievements under his belt, like his compilations on Toolroom, spinning on BBC Radio 1 with Pete Tong and performing his ‘Triple J Mix Up Exclusive’ to gracing the stages of Field Day, Bestival Bali, Electric Gardens, Splendour in the Grass, Defected in the House Sydney, Ministry of Sound Club Australia, ‘This That’ Festival, Revolver and Chinese Laundry; Color Castle is definitely set to take over the world by storm.

The values that House Music pertain are what Colour Castle lives by; community, love, respect and this reflects onto Christian’s music, attitude and work ethic. Known for his striking poolside grooves, late-night rompers and melodic four to floor rhythms. He’s driving dance floors with a prolific sound and is accustomed to setting the mood whether it be sunset jams or naughty hours of the night in clubs. Just as Colour Castle has said, “You can’t buy this feeling, nah man, it’s not for sale!”

Get all the feels, when Colour Castle touches down in Bali. The titan himself, will be killing it behind the decks at, Mrs Sippy on 14th December. We got our hands on Christian Pillot before his much-anticipated set and had some massive fun with him – shooting him our ‘Test Track’ series, where we put artists to the test by, laying down 5 scenarios and getting them to respond with a track.

A track that would be a total challenge to remix, from any genre, but you would love to work on.

Would be amazing to have the stems to “Another One Bites The Dust – Queen” or just about any of Queens songs… Would be a challenge too.

(We at Secret Bali Life DEMAND that this comes to life, please!)

It’s hit Midnight on NYE, what track are you dropping?

Our latest collaboration with Supermini ‘On Fire’ 😉

*Released on November 25th, on promo only for AUS via Global PR Pool!

Name one track, from all the tracks you’ve ever released (collaborations/solo/produced), that you would play for your parent(s)?

Well actually they listen to them all haha! They prefer the songs with more vocals hahaha! Love Addict is their favourite.

Christmas time is amongst us, what is the number one track you would hate to hear during the holiday times?

All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carrey, or any Michael Bubble haha.

(I mean, tell us about it!)

You’re a knight and you’re about to storm a castle with your army, what track is playing in the background?

Killing In The Name Of – Rage Against the Machine

Wasn’t that a hoot! Catch Colour Castle at Mrs Sippy on December 14th, as he creates electrified chaos on the dance floor. We’re already vibing to his tracks on Spotify.
