ONE HIT WONDER FEATURING MAXXI SOUNDSYSTEM

Being the son of a musician, his father being a respected Jazz pioneer, it’s no surprise that Maxxi Soundsystem ended up behind the decks and in the studio. Quite often the most successful electronic artists have a connection to live music, be it directly or indirectly as in the case of Sam Watts, as he is also known when not working under his musical moniker.

His studio works have been catching the eyes and ears of some of the biggest labels in the game including Hypercolour, Nervous, Ellum and Defected amongst others. He has also been successful as a party organiser with his Schtuum night in Brighton (UK) which gave him the perfect platform to perform as a DJ and which is now seeing him travel the globe as word gets out about this bright new talent.

His early releases were played far and wide by the likes of DJ Harvey and Avicii and he has never looked back. So ahead of his set at Karma this Saturday 31st August we took time to speak to the Brighton resident to find out a little more about the man behind the music about his heroes, his favorite tunes to wake up to, advice for producers and everything in between.
