INSPIRATION SERIES: OLIVER KOLETZKI

It was clear from the start that, Oliver Koletzki was destined for a life-long relationship with music and as fate would have it – he hit the jackpot! The affair began at just 12 years old, when he was deeply infected with the production of music.

Flashback to 2005, where Koletzki presses 500 copies of his then underground hit ‘Der Mückenschwarm’ and as the universe would have it, one of those white labels lands in the bag of, Sven Väth and whenever he plays it – the people go wild! It came as no surprise when Väth signed Koletzki’s track on his techno empire, Cocoon Records, shortly after. The track ‘Der Mückenschwarm’ already reigning as a techno classic, then becomes the best sold techno record of 2005, the best-ever selling record on, Cocoon Records and puts Oliver Koletzki on the prestigious Groove magazine as, best newcomer of the year – told you he hit the jackpot!

In his early years, he starts off by programming Hip-Hop beats on the C64 and as the universe would have it – he quickly falls in love with electronic sounds like breakdance and synthie-pop, which he would produce on the first ever Amiga computers. At 18 years old, he began DJing in his hometown of Braunschweig and rapidly went on to become a resident in his local clubs. When 2000 hit, he makes a move to Berlin to study music and the exorbitant Berlin nightlife. He effortlessly lands himself gigs in smaller clubs and bars, but when his first record ‘Der Mückenschwarm’ dropped, his career took a serious boost.

The summer of 2005 is a monumental one for Oliver Koletzki. The world becomes his playground and he’s all around playing festivals, getting booked by the most elite clubs and even getting the honor of remixing the likes of Rockers Hi-Fi, Client and Cassius. In the same year, fuelled by his love affair with music, Koletzki is hit with a sudden eureka – he wants to own label, and that’s how ‘Stil Vor Talent’ was born! A label dedicated to pushing new artists and creating a platform for a variation of quality electronic dance music, from minimal techno to squeaky house, and to pop music. So far, his label has garnered 40 releases that include Oliver’s first artist album, ‘Get Wasted’, the über-hit “3 Tage Wach” and Oliver’s latest masterpiece: his electronically influenced pop album “Großstadtmärchen”.

With “Großstadtmärchen” Oliver has managed to achieve what only few techno producers manage can do: produce a pop album with club credibility. The singles “Hypnotized” and “U-Bahn” get nationwide airplay on the radio and when he plays them in the club people sing along to the lyrics. But even with 20 years of experience under his belt and superstardom lurking around every corner, Koletzki is still completely down to earth.

He’s is not just a DJ, Producer and Label owner – he’s also part of, The Koletzki, a band he founded with his old friends and the singer Fran. They have played live at Bar 25, Watergate and Lido in Berlin, as well as Leipzig, Bern, Hamburg, Vienna and many other cities. The band has big plans though, aiming to expand their horizon from the clubs into concert halls, from beach raves to the open-airs, whilst also pushing Oliver’s music further out into the world.

Above his vast repertoire of accomplishments, Oliver still manages to fill clubs around the world and bring joy to people with his energetic DJ sets – be it in the best clubs like Fabric (London), Berghain (Berlin) or around the rest of the world, he’s a natural at performing and connecting with his audience.

There’s nothing stopping Oliver Koletzki from taking over the world and his undying love for music. The island of Gods will be graced by this legend on November 21st at W Bali and we can’t contain our excitement. But before we see the living embodiment of music behind the decks at W, let’s take a breather and enjoy Oliver Koletzki’s ‘TOP 5’ music track list that he took the time to share with us. Sam Shure – Louna [SVT260 – Sam Shure – Laconia] –

Hidden Empire – Black Beauty [SVT216 – Hidden Empire – Mind Palace]

This was our most successful tracks of 2017. It’s one of those energetic bombs, with a 16 note bass line, arpeggio and a killer drop after the break. Hidden Empire are ones to watch worldwide.

Oliver Koletzki – Endorphins [SVT263 – Oliver Koletzki – Fire in the Jungle ]

Endorphins is a track from my new album, Fire in the Jungle. It’s my declaration of love to the 80s and Italo Disco. The melodies are so positive and euphoric that the name was a no-brainer.

Township Rebellion – Romeo [SVT234 – Township Rebellion – Balance]

Township Rebellion is a producer duo not just able to write great melodies, but they back it up with incredible technical know-how. Their tracks distinguish themselves by way of intricate details – and are extremely on point. 2018 they made another huge step forward with Romeo.

HVOB – Lion (Stimming Remix) [SVT118 – HVOB – Lion]

The Viennese duo released two albums with us a couple of years ago. By now, they’re an accomplished act worldwide. Stimming’s remix of Lion is one of my absolute favourite tunes.

Miss catching FOMO and head on over to W-Bali on November 21st to catch Oliver Koletzki behind the decks, serving up some fresh tracks set to keep you dancing all night!
