INSPIRATION SERIES WITH MR DORIS

An Ibiza legend who doesn’t play house or techno… That’s a rare thing in this day and age but that’s exactly what Mr Doris is all about. Let’s get it right, whilst he would happily drop the odd 4-beat track into his sets, Mr Doris got himself residencies at legendary nights and venues such as We Love and Carl Cox’s nights at Space in Ibiza over an extended period due to his insane ability to take you on a musical journey with no borders, a world music master.

Therefore it is with particular interest that we waited to see what his Inspirations selection would entail and so should you too… Enjoy and remember you can catch him down at Karma daily from January 5th-7th to round out the first week of 2019 oh so nicely!

Marvin Gaye - A Funky Space Reincarnation

The first time I heard this track, I fell in love with it. I’ve always enjoyed Marvin’s voice and in this it’s particularly hypnotic. That coupled with the pure funk creates a timeless classic.

Rob - Make It Fast, Make It Slow

This little known afro beauty by Rob has the most incredible rolling guitar riff that’s just so infectious you can’t help but get involved. A staple in my more chilled sets.

T. Ski Valley - Catch The Beat

A classic disco infused hip hop track from 1981 that gets people tapping their feet no matter the location or what time of day it is. I first discovered it when Dimitri From Paris played his own edit then found the original to be even more up my street due to the slightly slower tempo.

Jill Scott - A Long Walk

For me, this track is the epitome of modern soul. I find Jill Scott’s voice just so beautiful and that coupled with Jazzy Jeff’s top notch production creates a classic.

Quantic - Spark It feat. Shinehead

My favourite producer Quantic hits the mark here with this heavy weight number involving reggae legend Shinehead on the mic. If the mood fits, I will always incorporate this in my beach side sets. Little known fact: Apparently it was made in one take!

Welcome to the island of the Gods, Mr. Doris! Thank you so much and we hope you enjoy your stay...
