Inspiration Series with HanLei

Spending nine years as backing vocalists on tour for the legendary Grace Jones will surely have a lasting impact on one’s career. Enter HanLei: who have now become a powerhouse duo that has churned out memorable soul-/jazz-inflected sexy vocals across a number of musical genres.

The East Londoners—Hannah K and Aleysha Lei—have released chart-topping tracks in house music’s leading charts and collaborated with top producers such as DJ Spen, Sean McCabe, and Rhemi (with whom they collaborated on their empowering 2015 summer anthem, Diamond.

(Rhemi ft. HanLei - Diamond)

It’s definitely going to be a soulful feet tapping end of year party as HanLei stops by at Ku De Ta on December 31st. For their selection they have picked out a handful of dance tracks featuring other great female vocalists for a real taste of what you may expect on New Years Eve.

I Feel For You - Chaka Khan

Chaka Khan is one of our all time favourite vocalists! This classic timeless track always gets us dancing and singing (very loudly). Her voice has stood the test of time and so will the song!

No Good For You - HanLei

This song means a lot to us as it was our first time working with the legendary DJ Spen. We had a lot of fun in the studio and absolutely love the lyrics... a classic way to kiss that old love goodbye!

It’s Alright, I Feel It - Nuyorican Soul feat. Jocelyn Brown

We always play this song when getting ready to perform with Grace Jones - we start dancing instantly! How can you not? Jocelyn Brown slays the vocal as usual - with Masters at Work being the masters they are on the beat.

That Ugly Part Of Me - Avery Sunshine (Terry Hunter mix)

We’ve always loved Avery Sunshine, but when we first heard this Terry Hunter mix of her classic ‘Ugly Part of Me’ we were addicted. Her stunning musicality is brought to life with Terry’s mix and is one of our party classics.

Tightrope - Janelle Monaè

Who can deny this classic?! Janelle Monaè absolutely smashed this track. From her vocal to her dance performance, we will always select this track for a party. New skool/Old skool funk!

Thank you Ladies, for sending us some women power house tracks that surely will get our body dance to their beats. See you on New Years Eve!!
