Going In Deep: The 12 Days of Karma

The guys and girls at Karma Kandara have a wonderful series of events on over the festive period we want to bring to your attention. The 12 Days Of Karma. Rather than following the trend of just putting on a nice dinner and some DJ’s they have, once again, really pushed the boat out with a wonderful and varied schedule of events taking in music of course, but also cinema, yoga classes, activities and of course the very best in drink and cuisine that they have become synonymous for.

You can also win yourself an incredible prize, courtesy of Karma Kandara by entering the competition below as well, which will get one lucky winner free VIP Entry to ALL the 12 Days Of Karma events with your first 2 drinks on the house for each day!

On the music front they should also be commended for recruiting two highly respected DJ’s from the European circuit to play alongside their homegrown roster in Chris Coco  and Jon Sa Trinxa, two names that have been involved with  Balearic scene, and Ibiza in particular for many years now and proving that Karma truly understand the concept of a resident as these two great DJ’s are exclusive to them for the time they are on the island.

Throw into the mix the fact that the venue is one of the most beautiful on the island in the equally picturesque Uluwatu end of the island and you have all the ingredients to ensure your Bali Christmas is one to remember for a long time to come.

We took time to speak to their lovely marketing manager Sabine Soetanto about the concept and what people can expect…

Tell us a bit about yourself Sabine how long have you been at Karma now and how has it been for you since you came on board?
I’ve been with Karma Group for almost two years now, time really flies I have to say! It’s been a great experience since I came on board, got to meet and work with so many great people and of course being part of organizing some great events down the beach club has also been a great experience.
What have been the highlights for you since you started?
Hmm... that’s a hard one, there are definitely some highlights since I started, I have to say some of the highlights are definitely the 12 Days of Karma during the festive season and Bestival this year where we had such a great line up, great music, great people and just an awesome party.
So you guys are doing a series of events over the festive period called the 12 days of Karma and its truly a wonderful concept that has something for everyone… tell us a bit about the concept and what was the thinking behind it?
So the 12 Days of Karma are the biggest thing we organize each year, think 12 Days, 12 big parties, international DJs and everyday a different theme to go along with the event. The 12 Days of Karma run from the 23rd of December 2017 until the 3rd of January 2018, the idea behind it is kind of to have a 12 day long festival filled with exciting festivities each day, all at one great venue. The food and beverage arrangements during the 12 Days of Karma are also spectacular and each day will have special culinary arrangements in line with the theme of that day. Besides the parties and festivities, each day has a full day with fun activities for the kids too. And if you need some time to relax and refuel your energy, the spa offers a special daily program during the 12 Days of Karma also, so really something for everyone!

Does the concept differ this year to times gone by?
The main concept of 12 Days kind of stays the same over the years, however of course each year we have different themed parties and events, different DJs, different arrangements and we all work hard to make the next year even bigger, better and more exciting than the previous year.
So what are the highlights for you out of the 12 days of Karma, what aspects have something a bit different about them that you would suggest people pay particular attention to?
This year’s 12 Days of Karma has a lot of highlights, but the highlighting events would definitely be Gatsby’s New Year’s celebrations on the 31st of December which promises to be huge, the Acropolis Toga Party on the 1st of January, La Bodeguita Havana on the 2nd of January, and not to forget the closing party Burning Beach on the 3rd of January. Each of these events has such a great line up that you simply can’t go wrong. Aside from the DJs there will be exciting surprises, performances and dancers that go along with the theme on that day.

The big Christmas celebrations with a huge Christmas feast on the 25th of December will also definitely be a good one for the Christmas lovers, Santa will also be paying a visit and handing out presents on this day.

Another fun one this year is the Karma Kalua Luau on the 29th of December which is a Hawaiian themed beach party, aside from the killing DJ line-up on this day, a special to look out for is the Karma Kalua pig, where we will slow cook a pig under the sand during the day, in a traditional Hawaiian Kalua way, and unbury this at sunset for everyone to try at a big Luau feast on the beach, I can’t wait to try this!

As awesome as all these great parties are, I have to say one of my personal favourite events during the 12 Days of Karma is Christmas Eve on the 24th of December which we celebrate with the kids from Bali Life Foundation, this is something we do every year. The Bali Life Foundation is an orphanage charity organisation we support. On Christmas Eve we have a special celebration with the kids from the Bali Life Foundation. Prior to Christmas Eve, each kid gets to make a wish list for Santa and people can pick one of the presents to buy for the kids as a donation. On Christmas Eve we have a special dinner at di Mare where all the kids get to meet Santa and get their special gift from Santa. During the evening all the kids sing Christmas carols around the Christmas tree where everyone can sing along of course. To me the feel of this event is just so magical and what Christmas is really about, sharing the love, spreading joy and giving back to the world. The joy you feel from these kids is just so beautiful and so touching to experience, it really has to be one of my favourite experiences and I can highly recommend people to attend this aside from all the big parties that follow.
We are a music based site obviously, so with that in mind, which days out the 12 would you suggest the music lovers should be turning their attention to?
Oh, that’s a hard one! Looking at the line up for each day, it looks like every day during the 12 days of Karma will have great music, but having to pick a few, I’d have to say Gatsby’s New Year’s Night and Burning Beach. New Year’s really promises to be huge this year, we will have a total of 5 great international DJs performing across 3 different venues at the property of Karma Kandara. DJs will be performing at the top venue, Temple Lounge, one level down at the pool side cliff venue di Mare and all the way down the cliff at Karma Beach. Since it’s New Year’s night you can expect this party and the DJs to go the extra mile for this event. Burning Beach will be our closing party of the 12 Days, which is also a big one with a massive line up.

You have some great DJ’s coming In especially for this period to play for Karma exclusively who have roots in the Ibiza scene, tell us more about them?
Yes, we have DJs Jon Sa Trinxa and Chris Coco from the Ibiza scene flying in this year to bring a little bit of Ibiza to Bali during the 12 Days of Karma, they’re both kind of legends in what they do, their Balearic beats are really awesome and just the best of the best. Another few big ones we’re having fly in this year are UK’s Silicone Soul and Pete Gooding, they just know what to play to get the dancefloor going. If you like to dance to good music and have a good time, the 12 Days of Karma are definitely the place to be this year. Very excited to see them all perform this year!
Thanks Sabine and we look forward to catching you down at Karma over the festive period.
